The Upper Pinzgau

mountain pastures, sweeping fields
gigantic forests, friendly people

The Upper Pinzgau region is located in the the most western part of the Salzach Valley, stretching from Niedernsill to Krimml. The Pinzgauer Grasberge, the Hohen Tauern, and the Weyerhof are all part of the Nationalpark Hohe Tauern. The impressive mountain scenery, green fields, and friendly people are characteristic of the region. You can still find the traditional mountain farms and the Pinzgauer Zaun, a highly technical form of wooden fence unique to the region.

The Pinzgau’s time honored customs are very much alive and present through the craftswork, farmer’s markets, folk poetry, and festivals. Pristine nature and fresh mountain air await you!
